Jesus Calms the Storm (Mark 4:35-41)
That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”
He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!”Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”
Lots of us have struggles. Hmm... ALL of us.
All of us have storms and struggles.
Mine this week include kiddos being sick and therefore "messing up" my schedule both on Monday and today. Also my soul being a bit weary from a time of transition. My soul is longing for connection. If I am honest, I feel a bit alone lately. I know indeed I am not. I have amazing family and friends. And the Lord is near.
So, we all have storms. Mine are minor compared to what I know many of you are going through.
Today God gave me a reminder of His help and call in the struggle and in the storm. A reminder to have courage. You are courageous! I am courageous! The Lord is WITH us. He's with you and He sees you! He's with you in your thoughts and doubt and worry and wishing you had done something different. He's with you trying to figure out what the doctors say. He's with you in the stress of the holidays and relationships and family. He is with me today and my bleach scrubbing hands and slightly cracked heart.
Be reminded of Him. "Get into the Word. It helps." A wise friend told me this week. It helped!
He is Mighty and Powerful and Calm and Gentle and WITH.
Peace from Him,
